About

From New York City, NY. At music everywhere.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where his father, Victor Abdelnur, worked as a director for TV Globo and his mother, Arlete Ribeiro, was a television presenter who also owned a music school. His uncle, Emiliano Ribeiro, was a film director. In this environment, at the age of four, Victor Chicri began taking piano lessons, and later moved on to drums, guitar, and other instruments, receiving private lessons from esteemed teachers. He studied Conducting with Alceo Boccquino at the Villa Lobos school before graduating in Composition and Conducting from the Brazilian Music Conservatory.

As a teenager, Chicri formed rock bands, instrumental music groups, and began playing at dances, obtaining his professional musician's license at the age of 15 in order to work, performing for large crowds of up to 10,000 people at the Maracanazinho stadium for Manchete radio.

Throughout his career, Victor Chicri played, recorded, produced, and composed for great Brazilian artists such as Gal Costa, Seu Jorge, Bebel Gilberto, Simone, Gabriel Pensador, Emilio Santiago, Sandy&Junior, and many others, traveling throughout Brazil and the world, notably performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival with Simone and Maestro Quincy Jones' orchestra. He has received Gold and Platinum records, as well as a Latin Grammy, recording for major record labels including Sony, Universal, Warner, and EMI.

Chicri also worked at TV Globo, the largest television network in Latin America, recording music for soap operas, documentaries, and programs, working alongside top directors and producers, gaining extensive experience in composing for visual media.

In film, Chicri composed, conducted, and played for both short and feature-length films that were box office successes.

Victor Chicri has developed extensive expertise in keyboards and software, including Pro Tools Ultimate and Ableton. Additionally, he possesses a deep understanding of orchestral composition and analog equipment, providing him with mastery over both the musical and technical aspects of plugin use. In 2022, he also acquired the ability to create surround 5.1 and Dolby Atmos mixes.

In 2003, Victor Chicri converted to Christianity and became the worship leader for the Sara Nossa Terra Church in Rio de Janeiro. He subsequently entered the Christian music market, and in 2006, he moved to New York and began working at the First Baptist Church of New York, now known as the PIB Family Church, overseeing the entire musical department of the church. In this role, he began fulfilling his calling to train and equip talented musicians.

Since then, he has served numerous churches, helping to form and train worship groups, conducting workshops in other American states and Brazil.

He has created orchestras and written and directed musicals for Easter and Christmas, including the highly praised "A Christmas Song," which featured theater, soloists, choir, and dance, and was performed at the Queens Theatre in New York for more than 600 people, with Victor Chicri conducting a full orchestra.

He has formed many bands with teenagers, young adults, and people of different styles, including the successful group Tom de Deus, which has been played on radios and performed in several cities, including at the Brazilian Day celebration in Manhattan, where many people were led to Christ.

Victor has been dedicated to recording and releasing 'Orlas,' a project in partnership with his son Vic Delnur. The album features their own compositions, with Victor playing the piano and conducting a string octet. It incorporates elements of Brazilian rhythms and includes guest appearances by singer Luciane Dom (who performed with them at the summer festival at Lincoln Center NYC) and singer Gabi Delnur. The album is set to be released in October of this year.

Victor Chicri is married with children and continues his work of multiplying and empowering talents, with a special ability to work with young people and to follow the call of the Lord Jesus. All glory and honor belong to the Lord
